If you are at least seventy-and-a-half years old and own an IRA or other type of qualified retirement plan, you may make a tax-free rollover gift to the FOCUS Mission Foundation. As you know, any withdrawal from a traditional qualified account is normally included in your taxable income. However, Congress has granted an opportunity to make tax-free gifts (“Qualified Charitable Distributions”) to charities such as the FOCUS Mission Foundation.
HOW IT WORKS
Your gift must be sent directly to the FOCUS Mission Foundation from a qualified traditional IRA. If you have a different type of traditional qualified retirement plan (ie, 401K, 403(b), etc.), your gift must be transferred to a traditional IRA before donating to the FOCUS Mission Foundation.
You cannot personally withdraw the gift. Instead, you or your IRA administrator should wire the gift directly to the FOCUS Mission Foundation or have your IRA administrator cut a check payable
to the FOCUS Mission Foundation. Please contact us for wiring instructions that are fast and easy.
Your gift is tax-free but does not qualify for an additional income tax deduction.
The maximum amount you may give from your IRA is up to $105,000 per year in 2025.

Your gift may satisfy a pledge or be designated for a specific program. Your gift cannot be made to a donor advised fund.
With separate ownership of IRA’s, a husband and wife may each separately donate up to $105,000 per year.
You may also use gifts from your IRA to satisfy your annual Required Minimum Distributions.
You can give from a Roth IRA as well, but there is normally little tax benefit from doing so.
